COMMUNITY SPORTS CENTER

Learn more about our newest project- a fully equipped center with soccer fields, laser tag and more!

ABOUT THE CENTER

Along with two outdoor and two indoor fields, the center will be fully equipped. This includes family recreation components such as a climbing center, ropes course, jump zone (trampolines), and ballocity.

OUR MISSION

To create field space and provide recreational opportunities for families

We have noticed that there is a lack of field space for young children and families to utilize in Marin. We aim to fix that. Our 85,000 square foot facility will provide families and organizations with plenty of space for recreation. The center will also be LEED certified and self-sustained using solar panel arrays.

Status Update

After completing rough grading and fill operations in 2016 and 2017, we began construction on the building foundation in July 2018. In order to eliminate any potential disruption to surrounding neighbors or wildlife in Gallinas Creek, we chose to use screwed-in helical piers instead of hammered piles. The screw-in helical piers, as their name suggests, are slowly screwed into the ground with a simple backhoe type machine. The only sound is a low hum from the hydraulic mechanism of the machine. We are happy to report that all piles were installed without incident or complaint. Subsequently, we formed and poured the concrete foundation, and on September 20th we began the erection of the metal building shell. The building shell was completed in June of 2019, and by year-end 2019 we expect to complete finish grading for the parking lot, landscaping, and outdoor field areas.  A 1-megawatt rooftop solar project is also expected to be completed by year-end 2019.  Final sports uses and configurations are currently being finalized, with the goal of opening the facility by late 2020.  For leasing contact Bob Herbst at 415-472-7700

Hours of operation for construction are 7 am – 6 pm, Monday through Friday, and 9 am – 6 pm on Saturday. Please call 415-453-0212 with any questions or concerns.

Please be aware that there is a separate and unrelated levee improvement project also underway at San Rafael Airport. This is a joint Airport/County of Marin project aimed at improving the levees surrounding San Rafael Airport, which provide flood control protection for the airport and County-owned lands, as well as Contempo Marin Mobile Home Park (400 homes) and the SMART railroad tracks. Many people are not aware, but there is a single, continuous levee system that surrounds the airport and Contempo Marin Mobile Home Park, with the SMART line running through the middle. Low points at Contempo and along the SMART line are several feet below the FEMA 100 year flood elevation and would be inundated by any failure of the airport levee system (and vice versa where the Contempo levees to fail). The levee improvement project will run from September through February (weather permitting) in order to comply with federal and state mandates for the protection of sensitive wildlife species in Gallinas Creek.
